AGEDI – Abu Dhabi is a subcomponent of AGEDI geared solely to the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.

AGEDI – Abu Dhabi will serve as a developmental test bed and ultimately as the basic model for implementation within other Emirates, the nation and then eventually the region.

 Objectives

The pilot program has four objectives-

·          Provide the first step towards the National, Regional, and International levels of AGEDI Implementation

·          Critically analyze the feasibility of implementing AGEDI components at the National, Regional, and International levels

·          Assess how AGEDI will integrate with existing EAD programs and organizational structure

·          Provide better definition of what AGEDI is through the combination of products and the staff, data, infrastructure, procedures, and other resources required to produce those products

 Programme Framework

The purpose of the programme framework is to divide AGEDI Abu Dhabi into discrete components that define what the pilot is.

It is useful to think of the framework parts as legs of a table on which AGEDI-Abu Dhabi and eventually AGEDI will stand.

 Benefits

The expected benefits and returns from the successful implementation of the pilot are diverse. Enhancement of environmental data and information collection and management throughout Abu Dhabi extends to the improvement of environmental policy and decision-making, coordination and cooperation between relevant agencies, awareness, data quality, as well as the improvement of priority setting.  Additional benefits include savings in time and productivity as a result of the increased and consistent data availability, the elimination of redundancies in data collection, and capacity building for environmental data/information related issues in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
