3 October 2012: Experts meet for the Local &
National Species and Ecological processes workshop
The Marine and Terrestrial
Species and Ecological Processes Technical Workshop held at Environment
Agency – Abu Dhabi (EAD) Headquarters today.
These workshops provide
experts the opportunity to review and fill the many spatial data gaps,
validate the spatial species data collected and assembled on maps and
briefly review spatial ‘ecological processes’ areas. For more

23 June 2012: EAD and UNEP sign Eye on
Earth Secretariat Agreement
The United Nations Environment Programme
(UNEP) and the Environment Agency - Abu Dhabi (EAD) through the Abu
Dhabi Global Environmental Data Initiative (AGEDI) took forward their
cooperation by signing a landmark agreement to establish the joint ‘Eye
on Earth’ Secretariat. The Secretariat will oversee the implementation
of the eight Special Initiatives and commitments of the Eye on Earth
Summit held in Abu Dhabi last December.

02 June 2012: Eye on Earth Goes to Rio+20
The Environment Agency - Abu Dhabi (EAD) through the Abu Dhabi
Global Environmental Data Initiative (AGEDI), prepares to showcase the
outcomes from the recent Eye on Earth Summit in December at the United
Nations Conference on Sustainability Development (UNCSD) Rio+20 in 13-24
June 2012 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
23 May 2012: Launch of the Interactive Atlas in collaboration with
ADEC. The launch was attended by H.E. Dr Mugheer Khamis Al Khali,
Director General of the Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC) and H.E.
Razan Khalifa Al Mubarak, Secretary General of EAD.
16 April 2012: Solar
& Wind Atlas Partnership Agreement
The Environment Agency - Abu Dhabi (EAD)
through Abu Dhabi Global Environmental Data Initiative (AGEDI) today
signed agreements with a number of entities formalizing the funding
contributions to the recently announced UAE National Atlas of solar and
wind resources.
The atlas will offer universal
access to resource quality, grid, and land use data, helping to
efficiently assess the feasibility of renewable energy projects for
planning and investment decisions.
28 March 2012: AGEDI presents at EAD Pavilion at the Abu Dhabi
Book Fair
Over 900 exhibitors from 54 countries
welcomed Sheikh Sultan bin Tahnoun al Nahyan, Chairman of Abu Dhabi
Tourism and Culture Authority, to the 22nd Abu Dhabi International Book
Fair (ADIBF) on Wednesday morning at Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions
Centre (ADNEC).
14 December 2012: Environmental Atlas of Abu Dhabi Emirate
On 14 December 2011 at the Eye on Earth Summit, an
extraordinary publication from the Environment Agency Abu Dhabi (EAD)
was launched. The Environmental Atlas of Abu Dhabi as a
beautifully bound book brings the story of Abu Dhabi’s environmental
heritage to life in a way that is at once educational and entertaining,
factual and surprising, thought-provoking, and inspirational.
The development of the Environmental Atlas of Abu
Dhabi Emirate involved over 100 accomplished experts in their field from
scientists to storytellers across 65 different organizations, all of
whom have shared their knowledge, time and passion to make the
Environmental Atlas of Abu Dhabi Emirate a bound account of the emirates
history.
12-15 December 2011: Through AGEDI, the Government of Abu Dhabi organised the inaugural global summit devoted to the issue of greater access to environmental and societal information. The Environment Agency - Abu Dhabi (EAD) hosted the Eye on Earth Summit on December 12-15, 2011 in partnership with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP)
